Google Drive Sync Icon Missing Windows 10: Troubleshooting and Support

I upgraded to the new version when I got the possibility and since that day, I can't see these icons anymore. I don't know what folders are online and what folders are not (unless I remember it), and I can't see when a file or folder is synchronizing or synchronized anymore.

I had the same problem, using Mac. Lusil's answer worked for me -- the problem was Google Drive -- but the Sync Icons Missing page you linked to ( -integrations/sync-uploads/sync-icons#files) does not contain the information that answers this question.

Google Drive Sync Icon Missing Windows 10

Eliminate anything and everything to do with Google Drive from your device, googledrivesync.exe, gsync.exe, etc. Try to cheek through registry directories to delete all files related to Google Drive. Delete ALL the leftover files even in Recycle Bin. Whatever, just delete everything you can come up with related to Google, maybe even Chrome.

The problem may be the LOCALE of the program. Check the log file to confirm the problem. If it is so, entered this command into CMD:set LANG=en_US and then: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Drive\googledrivesync.exe", restart it and it can work!

I am having a weird problem with OneDrive. It has been working for a long time for me. I always open it at startup and keep it running. I have a subscription to Microsoft 365 personal that gives me 1TB of storage. Two evenings ago, when I was doing a manual file backup with another backup program (Retrospect), I noticed that the OneDrive icon had disappeared from the task bar. I just assumed I had accidentally closed it. I opened it from the list of apps. It then said it was syncing files, counting down from around 55,000. That suggests that it was going through every file in my OneDrive directory and comparing to the web version. It did not seem to be copying many files, just checking for sync. I had to let it run all night. I just assumed that, since OneDrive was offline for a while, perhaps it needed to check to see if changes had happened. The next morning it came up as all files are synced. It appears that they are. I was not worried. However, that evening I noticed that the little sync icons (the green circle with a check) were no longer showing on the folders and files in Explorer. I am not positive, but I believe they had been showing earlier in the day.

I checked all the settings. I even downloaded a new copy of OneDrive and installed it over the one I had. Still no sync icons. I ran sfc /scannow. It said it corrected some files, but no difference with my OneDrive icons. I did file a case with Microsoft. After about 5 hours I got an email reply that had nothing to do with my problem. I then tried getting Office support, which had worked much better for me a few days ago. There I got a live agent on chat, who connected to my computer. But he concluded I needed the OneDrive team, and directed me back to file a new case giving my phone number. Still no response after 4 hours.

I normally see the OneDrive sync status as icons superimposed on the regular file type icons. There are no other automatic cloud sync apps on my computer. I do make scheduled and manual backups to a local NAS using Retrospect for file backups and Macrium Reflect for full image backups. Retrospect does not display any icons. You simply select the directories and files that you want to be backed up and identify them in the script. Retrospect does look for files that have changed in some way since the last backup. I do not have Files on Demand enabled. I want all of the files to remain on my local drive all the time, with OneDrive providing a backup location if needed.

While the cloud-based storage Google Drive isn't a physical hard drive, it works like one and helps you manage files on and off the Web. After you install the Google Drive desktop app, it adds a Google Drive icon to your system tray. This icon comes in handy because you can click it to open the Google Drive folder quickly. Pin the icon to your Taskbar and you can click it at any time to view the files that reside in your Google Drive folder.

ExplorerWindows has a limitation on the number of applications that can register for bagde icons in File Explorer. You will need to either uninstall other applications or edit your registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers.You can find this well documented by Microsoft at Sync icon overlays are missing.

Enable Application Icon in DockAs a utility application with no application windows, no icon is displayed in the Dock but only in the system status bar. If you want to enable the application icon to appear in the Dock set the following property:

I found that Windows 10 did not allow me to change the name of the OneDrive folders, but I could change the names of all the others (I have Dropbox, Box, Mozy, and SkyDrivePro). So I moved the SkyDrivePro folders to the top, followed by the OneDrive folders. Along the way I discovered that I could arrange the folders in an order that displays icons for the most frequent settings (like synced) across multiple applications. The folders are no longer displayed by application group, but by icon preference. This tactic allows me to display icons across more applications, but at the sacrifice of losing some detail (like sync in progress)

Thanks for the nice tip. Unfortunately it has the bad side-effect that my explorer crashes every time I right-click an icon in the navigation area. As soon as I rename only one of the folders I get this effect and I can only fix it by restoring my registry :O I have all the Skydrives and OneDrives and I am using Dropbox.

I have a user that logged into a new workstation (Lenovo Yoga) and their desktop icons from their profile are not populating. They have icons, just the ones that they added (Chrome, Office, etc). Show icons option is turned on, tablet mode turned off, restarted explorer.exe. Profile works on other domain workstations, what are the things that I am missing?

Step 2: Reload the page for each Google Drive file to be edited off-line (you can also see a message on Google Docs that is open on your browser). Instead, you can save space by saving individual Google Files. You will go to drive.google.com, locate your file, right-click and pick the feature "offline" option.

The Sync Center icon should be visible in the system tray (the area of the taskbar near the clock). If there is a sync conflict, you will see a yellow triangle with and exclamation in front of the Sync Center icon; if there are no sync conflicts, you will only see the green Sync Center icon.

Once Dropbox is installed on your computer it will create a folder on your hard disk, which will then sync to your Dropbox account. If you want to share a Scrivener project then it has to be stored that folder. As you work on the project, Scrivener will save the files you change on your local hard drive, these will then be automatically uploaded to Dropbox and then downloaded to the other computers using that Dropbox account. 2ff7e9595c
